The power of Google's applications - part 1

Everyone knows Google, but how many of you know all the web applications that Big G has build?
To discover them is simple...go to www.google.com and look on the upper left corner of the page.
There are some labels, probably all of you have used Images, Maps and maybe News at least one time. But there are many other things under the hood!!
To gain a full access to all services a google acount is needed.
To create a new account is simple:
  1. go to www.google.com (of course)
  2. click "Sign In" on the upper right side of the page
  3. Now click on "Create an account now" and follow the instructions
After having create the account you can use a lot of powerful and intresting applications.
I start talking abuot them starting with those that I use!
The first one is called iGoogle and it consists simply into the Google page customized with the user's gadgets.
The following image is my personal Google page:

You can change the theme and add as many gadgets you want!
If you use the applications after having login with your account, those apps are more useful..
for example, in Google Maps you can save the directions and maps!

The most famous application is surely GMail which is the web mail service provided by BigG.
This is my main personal mail although it is not quite intuitive for a user accustomed to the other classic web mail clients like libero.it and so on!
The only thing I not like on GMail is that (nowadays) not provide a way to ask a receive reports of your sent mails!!

Going on we find another application I use a lot: GReader, it is a news/blogs reader.
For those of you that don't know which is a news reader, well...
..when you surf on the web, you find a lot of intresting blogs but you don't want to store a prefer for each of them! Could not be nice if there is an application that read all blogs for you and present to you a list of the posts in a single page? Well, this is a news reader!

In many years I found a lot of blogs around the world to follow, and using GReader is simple!

Ok, for now the journey into the Google applications ends here, in the next post we discover another intresting services provided by BigG!

Blog on Facebook

After have used Simplarist Blogcast application on Facebook, I found accidentally "Networked Blogs" which is another app for promote and make visible blogs on FB.
Substantially all those apps are Blog-readers that posts blog contents on FB.

Now, I think I have enough apps :-) and all that remains is....write on blog!

I'm alive...

Hey! The last post was on 6 july!
Yesterday I take back the blog and I say to myself....You have to write something or you can delete it!
But when you write something, would be nice if someone read it...so I thought: exist something to promote my blog? So I start googling....

and after some minutes I found disqus.com. It is a service that connects your site (or blog) to the major social webs.

So I'm registered on it (it is a very simple task), connect it to my Facebook account and now, if all goes well, this post is the first one connected to my Facebook page.

Substantially it create an application on Facebook side and became a connection points between the two sites to handle comments!
But, what about posts? I wanna to see my blog post on FB, so I found Simplaris Blogcast which is a FB application that reads the blog feed (like a newsreader) and post it on FB...

Let's try!

G8 - Monday

Ok, today I don't work.
My round starts at 6.00AM on Tuesday.

The work in progress into the barrak are terminated.
Ok, let me explain our work.
We have made a software that manage the radio communications.
For the G8 we work for Selex comm (a Finmeccanica company) that works for the Civil Protection Department.
Selex developed and installed the repeaters so people can talk from Rome to Pescara (more or less in all filed of Italy center). Now our software records all the radio communications between users.

Our work consist to stay in the SOC room and listen the conversations and...do nothing! :-(
We needed only if there is some problem.
Inside the SOC there are a wired and wireless connection but unfortunatelly they filter sites like Facebook or YouTube so we can kill the time surfing in another way or doing someting else!!

From yesterday the red zone around the barrak is closed so, to enter the procedure is:

1. Arrive at L'Aquila and go to the shopping center near the highway;
2. Parking in a way near the shopping center;
3. Catch a car brings us in the shopping center;
4. Pass the safety controls;
5. Catch the bus brings us in the barrack;
6. Pass the second safety controls;
7. Go to the SOC room.

This procedure may take from 30 mins to 1 hour!!!
Also the bus take a very very long route to bring us to the barrak (for security reasons!!)

So, when we arrive at SOC we are yet stressed!
Fortunatelly we have nothing to do there....so! ;-)

Today all of us have to run, but...

Yes, I've promised to myself to use this blog like a diary, but I seen that I have no much time to write...

I never used a diary and sincerely I always thought it was a waste of time: why I have to write something that anyone will read?!

But now I found the answer...I have to write for me, for memory..it very useful to stop and think about yourself...what I have done today? What feelings I felt?
And after days, weeks, months....to see again that we're living...

So, some days ago I've reviewed Forrest Gump which, for me, is the best movie ever..and I realized that I have many good intentions but in practice I do not so much to put them in practice..
Like Forrest keep his memories in a bag, we have to keep ours in some places.
I think a real diary is the best choice, but I like to share my feelings so in those years a blog is what I need.
Maybe no one will read my words, but doesn't matter..

Today all of us have to run, but we have always to remember who we are!

wonderful life

It's a little I don't write....
I'm thinking that today, life is frenetic, and we don't have time to think.
We're always taken by work, hobbies, and so on, but someone had said "cogito ergo sum" so we have to think!

To think of ourself, to think at this world, because today more than in the past our world need people who thinks with their head!!

So, sometimes, stop....look up the sky, and think. About what you want, but think!
